The Best Books To Fuel Your Mind:

How to Think Like an Entrepreneur (The School of Life)

Philip Delves Broughton

March 4, 2023

A lot of business and entrepreneurship books talk about strategy and tactics, contemporary processes, and market cycles. While these topics are not absent in this book, it focusses more on the underlying motivation and mindset of what it is to be an entrepreneur, describing all the contradictions, compromises, commitments, and possible compensations that come with it.

The book does a great job at priming your mindset for adversity and flexibility, in preparing your psyche for the struggle of going it alone, while also training your business brain to be alive to opportunities with the willingness to exploit them, through examples as well as describing underlying philosophies and motivations. Far from glorifying entrepreneurship, the book tries its best to ensure you are forewarned and forearmed should you choose the life of an entrepreneur, all in a short few pages.

The Climate Book: The Facts and the Solutions

Greta Thunberg

January 30, 2023

I urge everyone to please read this book. Each essay describes a crisis in itself, with details on the causes, the current status, and the proposed mitigation that needs to happen. Taken together, the gravity of the climate crisis is laid bare, with an equal amount of evidence that urgent climate action is needed. As Greta states in the book; "It has to be us, and it has to be now".

Be sure to read to the end of the book where solutions, albeit uncomfortable ones, are described and recommended. Olúfẹ́mi O. Táíwò summarises the situation clearly; "We have nothing to lose and a world to gain".
