Q. Do you have a favourite smart thinking book (and why that book)?

On Our Best Behaviour: The Price Women Pay to Be Good by Tim Ferriss.
Ivana:
One of the best books I have ever read is Tim Ferriss' The 4-Hour Work Week. Ferriss challenges the old-school notion that success only comes from long hours and conventional careers. Instead, he introduces this exhilarating idea that we can design our work lives around what excites us, turning our passions into our profession. It's not about working less for the sake of laziness but working smarter to create more space for innovation and creativity. What strikes a chord with me is how Ferriss flips the script on the future of work. He's not advocating for a life of leisure at the expense of ambition; rather, he's empowering us to redefine what productivity looks like. This book has become my playbook for navigating the entrepreneurial journey in a way that aligns with my love for work and desire to create something meaningful. 'The 4-Hour Work Week' isn't about escaping work; it's about embracing the work that lights us up and using it to fuel our lives, transforming the very essence of how we view success and fulfilment.

Forget the old concept of retirement and the rest of the deferred-life plan - there is no need to wait and every reason not to, especially in unpredictable economic times. Whether your dream is escaping the rat race, experiencing high-end world travel, earning a monthly five-figure income with zero management, or just living more and working less, this book is the blueprint.

This step-by step guide to luxury lifestyle design teaches:

* How Tim went from $40,000 dollars per year and 80 hours per week to $40,000 per MONTH and 4 hours per week

* How blue-chip escape artists travel the world without quitting their jobs
* How to eliminate 50% of your work in 48 hours using the principles of a forgotten Italian economist
* How to trade a long-haul career for short work bursts and frequent 'mini-retirements'.

This new updated and expanded edition includes:

* More than 50 practical tips and case studies from readers (including families) who have doubled their income, overcome common sticking points, and reinvented themselves using the original book as a starting point
* Real-world templates you can copy for eliminating email, negotiating with bosses and clients, or getting a private chef for less than £5 a meal

Q. What's the most recent smart thinking book you've read (and how would you rate it)?

The Big Leap: Conquer Your Hidden Fear and Take Life to the Next Level by Gay Hendricks.
Ivana:
At the moment, I find myself deeply connected to The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks. It's a book that really gets to the heart of why we sometimes hold ourselves back from achieving all that we're capable of. Hendricks has this way of showing through real-life stories how people can, quite unknowingly, sabotage their own success. Imagine finally getting that big break, only to find your personal life in disarray, or missing out on an incredible business opportunity because, deep down, you didn't think you deserved it. This is what Hendricks calls the 'upper limit problem'—our subconscious setting a cap on our happiness and success. But what I truly appreciate about this book is that Hendricks doesn't leave us hanging with just the problem. He's right there with us, offering a hand with practical and thoughtful advice on how to leap over these self-made barriers. He talks about changing our mindset and taking concrete steps to not just dream of a better life, but to live it. 'The Big Leap' isn't just a book; it's a conversation with a wise friend who helps you see that the only thing standing in the way of your full potential is, well, you. I would rate it 5 stars out of 5.

Q. Do you have a favourite childhood book?

Big Panda & Tiny Dragon by James Norbury.
Ivana:
I loved reading as a kid and now as I have kids, I love to read with them. When it comes to sharing stories with my kids, I always look for books that resonate with us all, bringing not just entertainment but also valuable lessons to our reading time. Currently, we're captivated by Big Panda and Tiny Dragon, a book that beautifully explores Buddhist philosophy.

Kristína:
Reading Harry Potter repeatedly since I was 11 taught me a lot about leadership and entrepreneurship. Yes, I search for business advice in children's books. Even Dumbledore makes mistakes. I see the lack of transparency as the biggest one. Imagine if Dumbledore had told Harry that his aunt Petunia was actually his protector. Even if they did not have a better relationship, transparency builds trust, and Harry would understand why he needs to live with the Dursleys for the summer. Knowledge is power, and early awareness could have better prepared Harry for challenges. Dumbledore's secrecy created confusion, leaving Harry in the dark about crucial aspects of his own life. Transparency is and always will be my key to successful business and life. In Harry Potter, I learned the consequences of not embracing it.

Q. Do you prefer reading on paper, Kindle or listening to an audiobook?

Ivana:
I prefer reading on paper the most; there's just something special about the feel of a book in my hands and the act of turning pages. For non-fiction, especially books with concepts I plan to apply in real life, I stick to paper copies as well. I'm a visual learner, so having the text in front of me helps me better understand and remember the information. Audiobooks are great for certain types of non-fiction where deep concentration on visuals isn't necessary, but when it comes to topics like business, where I want to actively apply what I'm learning, I find that reading the physical book is much more effective for me.

Kristína:
We come from an entrepreneurial family in the printing business. I still love to smell new books and feel the paper. When it comes to long books, I found out that switching paper to audio and back feels great.

Q. Do you have a favourite bookshop (and why that shop)?

Martinus
Ivana:
My favourite bookshop is the first one I have visited in any new place I have travelled to. I'm drawn to the unique smell and the sense of newness each shop holds. The experience of discovering hidden gems among the shelves captivates me, making each visit memorable.

Kristína:
I love our local bookstore chain, Martinus, with amazing company values, atmosphere, and coffee. Imagine how it felt when we found out our book would be sold there!
