Q. Do you have a favourite smart thinking book (and why that book)?
My favorite book is Healing Back Pain by Dr. Sarno. It is more a book about getting your mental and physical connection right so you can live a pain-free life. The book has been a life safer in dealing with stress after I negotiated a severance from my day job in 2012.
Review From Book Depository:
Dr. John E. Sarno's groundbreaking research on Tension Myositis Syndrome reveals how stress and other psychological factors can cause back pain-and how you can be pain free without drugs, exercise, or surgery.

Q. What's the most recent smart thinking book you've read (and how would you rate it)?
The most recent book I read was How To Engineer Your Layoff: Make A Small Fortune By Saying Goodbye. It's the only severance negotiation book on the market. Just like how you need to sell yourself to get a job, you need to sell yourself and sell a solution to get out of a job with a severance.
Review From Financial Samurai:
Let me show you how to negotiate a severance with my book, How To Engineer Your Layoff: Make A Small Fortune By Saying Goodbye. It is a 200-page book I’ve refined since 2012 to help tens of thousands of people live the lives they want.
It’s the only book on the market that teaches you how to negotiate a severance. In addition, it’s full of first hand experience. There are multiple case studies of people who succeeded thanks to the tips and resources in the book

Q. Do you prefer reading on paper, Kindle or listening to an audiobook?
I like hardcopy books the best, followed by paper, and then audio. I'm very into collecting rare autographed books. I think they will be worth a fortune, especially since the pandemic throttled book signing. Learn and earn is the best combination!
Q. Do you have a favourite bookshop (and why that shop)?
I enjoy Barnes & Noble bookshops because they are massive. They also bring me back to my days as a high school student flipping through magazines. I also like the independent books stores by Books Inc in San Francisco. Clean, great selection, and they have copies of Buy This, Not That in all their stores!
Many thanks to Sam for recommending some important books! Please don't forget to check out Sam's book A History of Delusions: The Glass King, a Substitute Husband and a Walking Corpse.
