Q. Do you have a favourite childhood book?
King of the Wind by Maguerite Henry. Description from Blackwells: (All links earn commission from purchases. Prices accurate at time of writing)
King of the Wind by Marguerite Henry. I was horse mad as a child and started riding and reading around the same time. I was captivated by the adventures of a stable boy called Agba and a horse called Sham. Their journey from Morocco to France to the racetracks of England is vividly written and relays an exciting story full of peril and triumph.
Any book by Roald Dahl would be a close second.
King of the Wind
He was named 'Sham' for the sun, this golden-red stallion born in the Sultan of Morocco's stone stables. Upon his heel was a small white spot, the symbol of speed. But on his chest was the symbol of misfortune. Although he was swift as the desert winds, Sham's pedigree would be scorned all his life by cruel masters and owners.
This is the classic story of Sham and his friend, the stable boy Agba. their adventures take them from the sands of the Sahara. to the royal courts of France, and finally to the green pastures and stately homes of England. For Sham was the renowned Godolphin Arabian, whose blood flows through the veins of almost very superior thoroughbred. Sham's speed -- like his story -- has become legendary.

Q. Do you prefer reading on paper, Kindle or listening to an audiobook?
All of the above in different situations! Audiobooks are a favourite for long commutes or road trips in the USA. There is no better way to tick off the miles while enjoying a great yarn. Kindles are a fantastic space and weight-saving option when on holiday or travelling. But, when it comes to sitting curled up in front of a fire with a great read, there is no substitute for paper.
Q. Do you have a favourite bookshop (and why that shop)?
Many thanks to Sue for recommending a super set of books! Please don't forget to check out Firecracker Leadership: How to become a great leader.
