Q. Do you have a favourite smart thinking book (and why that book)?
I love The Courage To Be Disliked by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga. As any kind of leader especially online it can be so easy to just say the things that will make people like you but it’s so important that we don’t do this. If we want to really make change in the world then we need to feel comfortable saying things others might not say and that takes a level of bravery. This book helped show me why that’s ok!

The Courage to Be Disliked: How to Free Yourself, Change your Life and Achieve Real Happiness
The Courage to be Disliked shows you how to unlock the power within yourself to become your best and truest self, change your future and find lasting happiness. Using the theories of Alfred Adler, one of the three giants of 19th century psychology alongside Freud and Jung, the authors explain how we are all free to determine our own future free of the shackles of past experiences, doubts and the expectations of others. It's a philosophy that's profoundly liberating, allowing us to develop the courage to change, and to ignore the limitations that we and those around us can place on ourselves.

The Happy Me Project by Holly Matthews. It’s such a great book. We really can learn from the adversity that others have been through and the resilience they show through it.

Q. Do you have a favourite childhood book?
I loved books as a kid and would series of books. I loved the Point Horror series. Scary but not so scary I couldn’t cope with them I would wait desperately for the next one to come out. I also read the Sweet Valley High books avidly but even back then I worried about how the perfect nature of their world would make people feel that weren’t thin, blond and beautiful! I had an inate sense of fairness from a young age.

Q. Do you prefer reading on paper, Kindle or listening to an audiobook?
Reading. There is nothing like the feeling of a book. I travel so much and am always being asked why I don’t just get a kindle but I refuse. I have loved flicking through real paper pages since trips to the library and old dusty bookshops as a kid.
Q. Do you have a favourite bookshop (and why that shop)?
It’s in my hometown down a very old street called St Mary’s Bookshop and it is a complete dusty mess inside but it provided hours of shelter for me as a kid as it was near the school I went to and got bullied in. I used to spend as much time there as I could. I vowed at age 12 that one day I’d write a book and show them all I wasn’t useless because they’d be able to walk into the shop and see my book there. And then I did.
Many thanks to Lisa for recommending a brilliant batch of books! Please don't forget to check out Make Money Online: Your no-nonsense guide to passive income.
