Michael E. Mann, author of The New Climate War: The Fight to Take Back Our Planet recommends some fantastic books! Before jumping into the interview, please check out Michael's book:
Q. Do you have a favourite smart thinking book (and why that book)?
The great Carl Sagan’s Demon-Haunted World is my bible. It is the definitive work on the role of science in fact-based decision making.
Q. What's the most recent smart thinking book you've read (and how would you rate it)?
I very much enjoyed Race for Tomorrow by Simon Mundy, which "takes us on a trip around the world, from the southern end of South America to the northern reaches of Greenland, telling the extraordinary tales of ordinary people of all stripes who are already finding themselves on the frontlines of the climate crisis” (that’s from the blurb I wrote for the book). I give it five stars!
Q. Do you have a favourite childhood book?
The Lorax. It instilled in my very early on an appreciate for the natural world and the importance of environmental stewardship.
Q. Do you prefer reading on paper, Kindle or listening to an audiobook?
Honestly, I prefer an old fashioned paper book in my hands. But I’ve increasingly turned toward ebooks and audiobooks as an environmentally-friendlier alternative.
Q. Do you have a favourite bookshop (and why that shop)?
Many thanks to Michael for some fantastic book recommendations! Please don't forget to check out Michael's book The New Climate War: The Fight to Take Back Our Planet.
