Q. Do you have a favourite smart thinking book (and why that book)?
All Change!: The Project Leader's Secret Handbook by Eddie Obeng. Description from Blackwells: (All links earn commission from purchases. Prices accurate at time of writing)
Professor Eddie Obeng's All Change! The project leader's secret handbook. It was my first introduction to Eddie, his thinking and his tools. It changed completely how I thought about change, leading change and how I approached others about change. Little did I know at the time that Eddie would become my mentor, colleague and friend and that this book would be the start of my own Change Ninja journey. Eddie has recently updated the book for this new world we find ourselves in and it's been amazing to go back and read all about Franck and his adventures of change again.
All Change!: The Project Leader's Secret Handbook
Helps you diagnose your project and identify the types of issues you are facing. It provides you with the methods, tools and framework you need to get your projects implemented. Written from your point of view, it accepts that your life is already busy and pulls out the core which yields big results.

Q. What's the most recent smart thinking book you've read (and how would you rate it)?
The Idiot Brain: A Neuroscientist Explains What Your Head is Really Up To by Dean Burnett. Description from Bookshop.org: (All links earn commission from purchases. Prices accurate at time of writing)
The Idiot Brain by Dean Burnett. It was a re-read as I include neuroscience in what I teach. It's funny, practical, and you don't need to be a scientist to understand it. I like books that anyone with a smattering of interest can read and get something useful from.
The Idiot Brain: A Neuroscientist Explains What Your Head is Really Up To
Motion sickness.
Nightmares.
Forgetting people's names.
Why did I walk into this room??
For something supposedly so brilliant and evolutionarily advanced, the human brain is pretty messy, fallible and disorganised. In The Idiot Brain neuroscientist Dean Burnett celebrates the imperfections of the human brain in all their glory, and the impact of these quirks on our daily lives. Expertly researched and entertainingly written, this book is for anyone who has wondered why their brain seems to be sabotaging their life, and what on earth it is really up to.

Q. Do you have a favourite childhood book?
Choose Your Own Adventure #14 The Forbidden Castle by Edward Packard. Description from Bookshop.org: (All links earn commission from purchases. Prices accurate at time of writing)
I was (and still am) a huge fan of 'choose your own' adventure books. As a kid I read all the time and these books could be read again and again as you could go on multiple adventures with just one book. These books are what prompted me to write the first Change Ninja book as a 'choose your own adventure' book because the gamification element really draws you. My favourite was Book 3 The Forbidden Castle by Edward Packard.
Choose Your Own Adventure #14 The Forbidden Castle
Choose your fate--and multiple endings--as you quest for medieval gold in this custom-made adventure.
U-Ventures(R) Edward Packard's classics, revised and expanded for today's readers! The best in interactive adventure fiction--challenging, stimulating, and tremendous good fun! Also at the App Store on iTunes.
In The Forbidden Castle, The Cave of Time has brought you back to medieval England. Can you solve the riddle of the Forbidden Castle? Riches await, but the king wants the fortune for himself--and his army is right behind you. Will you be able to get away? Or should you stay for the gold? In the U-Ventures series, you decide how the story ends. And the more choices you make, the more endings there can be!

Q. Do you prefer reading on paper, Kindle or listening to an audiobook?
Ah.... it depends....
If it's a purely pleasure read then paper. Always paper. Ideally something quite old becuase old books have such a lovely smell. I love a good hour in a second hand bookshop picking up random books by random authors. But I use audio for work books as I can put them on 1.75 speed (top tip.. listen at 2x for a bit then go back to 1.75 and it sounds normal!). I also like to go to sleep to an audio book, something that requires no attention and doesn't matter if you miss 3 chapters.
Q. Do you have a favourite bookshop (and why that shop)?
The Bookshop in Wigtown
The Bookshop in Wigtown. Wigtown is famous for it's multiple bookshops in such a tiny place. It even has it's own bookfestival. But The Bookshop is something else altogether. It's like a warren. There's a fire with seats in one section where you can sit and look through your collected pile. There's a platform bed with the occassional sleeper in another section. Every corner you turn opens up a new delight. The owner has even written very funny diaries about his expereiences of running this large, mostley second hand, store.
Many thanks to Tammy for recommending a gret group of books! Please don't forget to check out The Change Ninja Returns: And this time it’s personal.
